The expedition began in August 2009, with the Hugin 1000, mini-submarine used as a primary tool for finding the famous plane Norwegian Arctic explorer, on an area of 34 square nautical miles.
"We are proud to have been part of this project," says Bjørn Jalving, Vice President of AUVs, Kongsberg Maritime.
"The Hugin 1000 AUV with HISAS 1030 synthetic aperture sonar is a new level of resolution and range in acoustic images and is designed to find small mines modern, efficient for the large area. It has proven an ideal tool for research for Latham plane. "
However, there were found traces of the remains of the aircraft.
